From Nov. 28 to 30, 2022, the city of Brussels hosted the "European CeramicDays," the event that hosts representatives of the European ceramic industry and European parliamentarians, officials and policy makers from the European Union.

The goal of the event is to foster exchange and knowledge on issues pertaining to the world of ceramics, discussing the present and future of the industry.

The European ParliamentCeramics Forum (EPCF) originated in the Parliament of 1994-1999, from an initiative of Michael Tappin, a former member of the European Parliament from the United Kingdom, and has been held regularly ever since, given the increasing importance of the Ceramics sector in Europe.

What were the topics of EPCF 2022?

This year's EPCF addressed three major themes in particular:

  • A discussion on the revision of the EU Building Materials Regulation. The ceramics industry requires clear regulations for the marketing of materials to give the right guarantees to consumers
  • The panel devoted to Fit for 55, the EU program to reduce emissions and the impact it can have in the world of ceramics
  • The sustainability of the ceramics sector, with goals already partially defined in the Roadmap to 2050.

The European Ceramic Days, therefore, has also focused its energies on regulatory innovations in the field and the search for a sustainable approach to production. The Forum's official website has useful updates for all industry professionals.
